The sanctuary's outdoor ceremony spaces are typically set among the gardens and open areas. This is where tree lighting shines. A ring of uplighting on the mature trees creates depth and layers the reception space without needing to string overhead. Festoon lines work beautifully here too, running between garden posts or suspended over the dance floor if your setup allows. The key is working with the venue's natural canopy rather than competing with it.

We've found that couples drawn to Currumbin usually want an organic feel. That means avoiding over-bright uplighting on the trees and sticking with warm colour temperatures—2700K keeps the natural beauty intact while still creating atmosphere. If you're marrying on a sunset evening, the pink sky does most of the heavy lifting; festoon and tree lighting kick in as dusk deepens.

Weather is something you'll want to plan for. The sanctuary is open-air, so rain can happen year-round in Queensland. A backup marquee or undercover space transforms your backup plan from "hope for the best" into a genuine secondary lighting setup. If you're working with one, let us know early—we can run a dual-space lighting rig that swaps seamlessly if the weather turns.

Projection mapping is less common in the sanctuary's outdoor grounds, but it's brilliant if you're using a marquee or have a large white structure to project onto. A couple we worked with here used subtle projection on the inside of their tent marquee—moving botanical patterns that felt less "nightclub" and more "enchanted garden."

Logistics at Currumbin are straightforward once you're on-site. The venue team are experienced with wedding setups and know how to work with external AV crews. Power access is available, and the open grounds give us room to rig safely. Site surveying is worth your time here—every couple's layout is different depending on where they position the ceremony arch, dance floor, and dining.
