Working With Gympie Regional Council

Gympie Civic Centre is the region's formal events venue, hosting council galas, corporate events, and community celebrations. The previous lighting was outdated generic fixtures. Gympie Regional Council wanted a modern, flexible system that could support any event type without external technical support. We designed a comprehensive intelligent lighting rig: fourteen LED fixtures networked on DMX, positioned for general space lighting, stage illumination, and accent zones. We trained civic centre staff to operate the system independently, so they could reprogram for different event types without external support. The system supports multiple profiles: formal galas get warm, even lighting (3000K, 70% intensity) with subtle stage accent; awards nights get cooler, more dramatic lighting (4000K) with accent colours; community celebrations can shift to warmer, more playful atmospheres. Critically, the system was designed to integrate with the civic centre's existing infrastructure, so there was no major renovation required—just the installation of new fixtures and the training of existing staff. By early 2026, three additional events had been booked at the civic centre specifically because of the improved lighting. Event organisers reported feeling that the venue had been upgraded to a competitive regional standard, which influences their booking decisions and their perception of Gympie's event infrastructure.
