Working With Gympie Regional Council

Gympie Regional Council runs several regional festivals (Country Music Muster, agricultural shows, cultural celebrations). Each event previously required custom lighting builds, which was expensive and time-consuming. We designed a unified, modular approach that could serve multiple event types throughout the year. The system comprises three scalable tiers: a base system (ten fixtures) for small markets and community events, an extended system (twenty fixtures) for medium festivals, and a full system (thirty-five fixtures) for major events like the Music Muster. All fixtures are networked on the same DMX protocol, so any configuration can be controlled from a single console interface. Each tier was designed with pre-calculated lighting positions and colour profiles for common event types (day-market, evening-market, stage events, ceremonial gatherings, etc.), so setup is straightforward and replicable across different venues and seasons. By January 2026, Gympie Regional Council had deployed the system for six different events across four different venues, with zero configuration failures and consistent positive feedback. The council now budgets for lighting infrastructure as a standard operational cost rather than a per-event expense, which dramatically improves event economics and encourages organisers to plan evening activations. This systemic approach demonstrates the strategic value of unified infrastructure: it enables council growth, reduces per-event costs, and positions Gympie as a region with professional-grade event capability.
