Sirromet Wines sits on the ridge overlooking the valley—that view is the entire story. We've lit six weddings at Sirromet, and every time, the brief is the same: don't fight what Mother Nature already built. Your ceremony happens outdoors against those views. Reception spills between the indoor cellar space and the covered terrace.

The ceremony space doesn't need much. Natural light does the heavy lifting until dusk. We'll anchor tree lighting on the back rows—soft uplighting on the mature palms creates depth without competing with the valley view. Three uplighters on the ceremony arch itself, warm white, just enough to frame the bride and groom without washing out the landscape behind them. By 6 p.m., it's subtle enough that photographers still get the golden-hour ambient, but structured enough that faces read.

The terrace is where Sirromet earns its keep. That's where you'll see the difference between "okay lighting" and "our guests will talk about this." Festoon strings from the main roof beam across to the edge—we typically run a double run for density, 6-metre bays with uplighting on the pergola posts beneath. Warm white LEDs keep the wine front and centre (crucial at a winery—your colour palette matters). If the weather holds, the terrace is magical. If wind or spring rain rolls in, the indoor cellar becomes your dance floor, and we'll supplement with projection mapping on the exposed brick wall—custom monograms or ambient colour wash that follows the DJ's beat.

One critical detail: Sirromet can get windy on the ridge. Your festoon runs need proper tensioning and guy-lines. We spec heavier gauge wire and redundant rigging because the last thing your wedding needs is a light rig swaying. It's not dramatic, but it kills the look and makes your guests worried instead of happy.

The lighting schedule at Sirromet is front-loaded. By the time your guests arrive for the reception, everything is already on—ceremony lighting is dimmed or switched off, terrace festoon is warm and glowing. Projection mapping (if chosen) kicks in at dusk and runs through the night. We'll coordinate with your DJ's AV tech to sync colour changes during key moments—first dance, cake cut, last dance. It's slick and memorable.

Photography tips: ceremony backlighting works beautifully against the valley backdrop. Ask your photographer to use the uplighters on the arch as a key light source; it sculpts faces naturally. For reception shots, the terrace festoon gives even, flattering light across the tables—no harsh shadows, good colour rendering. If you're doing an outdoor portrait session during golden hour, your photographer has 45 minutes before the uplighters become essential. Coordinate timing with us so we can leave arch lights off until ceremony's done.

Budget roughly 15–20% more for Sirromet than a flat indoor venue—the outdoor ceremony setup, the terrace rigging, the potential for weather contingency all add complexity.
