The lighting challenge is transforming a functional blank space into something intentional and celebration-worthy. We've lit four weddings here, and the golden rule is always: layered lighting builds dimension when architecture is neutral.

The main hall is your canvas. Neutral finishes, clean walls, open space. Without strategic lighting, it can feel cold or underdressed. With it, it feels sophisticated and controlled. We'll run festoon overhead in a clear grid—tight enough that you get continuous glow, loose enough that it reads as design. Warm white LEDs, dimmed during ceremony for focus, brought to full warmth during reception. The overhead ambient is your foundation.

Projection mapping becomes your accent layer. The walls are perfect for it—matte finishes that hold light beautifully. Run subtle colour wash during dinner (soft pastels or warm tones coordinated with your colour palette), then bring it to full energy during dancing. Custom monograms or initials during key moments (first dance, cake cut, last dance) add personal touch without being overwhelming. The combination of overhead festoon and wall projection creates visual interest and refinement that a blank space simply can't offer on its own.

Uplighting on accent architectural features (bar, columns, stage if applicable) adds dimensionality. We typically spec PAR cans or wash lights on key areas—just enough to separate them from the general background without making them spotlit like a sports court. We'll light it with clear intention: key light in front to sculpt faces, backlight to separate the couple from the background, minimal surrounding ambient. The focus stays on them. AV management is essential at Stones Corner. You're likely running a DJ, full sound system, and possibly multiple lighting zones. Everything needs to talk together. We'll wire full DMX control so your DJ (or our tech) can sync colour and intensity changes to the beat. First dance gets a slow, romantic wash. Best-man speech gets warm, stable light. Last dance gets full energy again. That responsiveness is what separates "adequate lighting" from "this night felt magical."

Weather is not a factor at Stones Corner—it's fully enclosed. That simplifies planning. Your entire day is weather-proof; you can commit to timing without worry about indoor/outdoor pivots.

Reception shots benefit from multiple light layers (overhead, projection, accent uplighting) that create separation and three-dimensionality. The combination of warm festoon and colour projection gives photographers an interesting dynamic range—they can work moody indigo during dancing or warm amber during dinner. Ask them to work with the projection colours and lighting zones; that intentionality adds visual interest to the timeline.
