The Calile is boutique luxury—refined finishes, contemporary design, rooftop views. It's the kind of venue where lighting has to disappear into the experience. We've lit one wedding there so far, and the challenge was clear: amplify the luxury and the view, never announce the mechanics.

The rooftop ceremony space is stunning—city and river backdrop, elevation, sense of occasion. We'll keep ceremony lighting minimal and refined. Directional uplighting on the ceremony arch or backdrop, just enough that faces read clearly without competing with the view. Warm white or pale gold, nothing bright or harsh. The focus stays on the couple; the city backdrop does the decor work. By dusk, natural light is fading, but your uplighting remains subtle—the transition from daylight to evening happens psychologically, and the lighting supports it without announcing itself.

The indoor ballroom has contemporary finishes and polished surfaces that work beautifully with projection mapping. Keep projection subtle and colour-coordinated with your design palette. Soft colour wash during dinner creates atmosphere without overwhelm. During reception, bring projection to moderate energy—custom monograms or geometric patterns that sync to music, colour shifts that respond to the beat. Nothing over-the-top; this is a luxury venue where restraint always reads as premium.

Festoon indoors works here only if restrained. A single run in a loop pattern, warm white, kept at moderate intensity. The combination of the hotel's existing ambient lighting (typically well-designed at luxury boutiques), your festoon, and projection creates layered sophistication. Guests should feel the light working without seeing the fixtures or feeling over-lit.

If reception moves outdoors to the rooftop (weather permitting), festoon from any permanent roof structure is essential. Keep spacing generous so it reads as elegant accent, not dense festival. The rooftop city view is your primary decor; light supports it without competition. Warm white LEDs, dimmed to moderate intensity—you want the city lights visible and part of your backdrop, not washed out by your own lighting.

AV management at The Calile is essential. Coordinate with your DJ or live band—responsive colour shifts during key moments, subtle spotlighting on the couple during first dance, energy build as the night progresses. Nothing jarring; everything responsive to the moment. By late evening, when dancing happens, the light supports celebration without ever feeling like it's competing for attention.

Weather contingency is simple. Everything essential happens indoors or under permanent cover. Rooftop is optional; if weather is uncertain, full reception stays in the ballroom. The hotel has emergency procedures; we coordinate with them so there's no scramble if conditions shift.
