The Greek Club is warm, welcoming, and deeply familiar to generations of Brisbane families. The ballroom has timber detailing, soft ambient lighting already built in, and a layout that says "celebration" before you even flip a switch. The terrace opens onto river views. We've lit eight weddings here, and the brief is almost always the same: enhance what's already there, don't fight it.

The ballroom's existing architecture is your ally. Instead of projecting bold colour over everything, we layer strategically. Warm festoon overhead adds visual texture without competing with the room's natural warmth. We typically run a single string in loops across the ceiling or against the perimeter walls, keeping intensity low during the ceremony (just enough glow that the room feels alive) and bringing it to full warmth during reception.

The terrace is magical during golden hour and essential at night. We'll uplift the mature trees at the edge—soft amber, warm white, nothing so bright it washes out the river view. Festoon from the indoor space extends to cover the outdoor dining area if guests spill outside during cocktails. If the evening is warm and your reception might flow between inside and out, we'll ensure seamless light transition. Dining under festoon outdoors, then dancing inside under warmer, more controlled light—it creates natural rhythm to the event.

The Greek Club's strength is intimacy. Lighting enhances that. We don't overdo projection or intelligent colour work here—it would feel out of place. Instead, we focus on quality ambient, strategic uplighting on key architectural features (the bar, decorative columns), and subtle accentuation on your focal points (ceremony arch, head table). Guests should feel the light working, not see the mechanics of it.

One crucial detail: the Greek Club's ballroom has chandeliers and existing wall sconces. These stay on—they're part of the room's identity. Our job is to supplement, not replace. We'll dim them slightly during ceremony for focus, bring them back up during reception. The combination of built-in fixtures and our additions creates layered, sophisticated light that photographs beautifully and feels polished without feeling sterile.

Weather at the Greek Club is straightforward. The terrace has partial cover; the ballroom is fully enclosed. If rain rolls in, your evening shifts indoors seamlessly. We'll coordinate with the venue on timing so your outdoor setup (if you've chosen to use the terrace) is prepped and ready but not taking up real estate if the plan changes.

AV management at the Greek Club is lighter than at more technical venues. You'll likely have a DJ or live band. We'll coordinate lighting cues with their tech—subtle colour shifts during key moments, spotlighting on the couple during first dance, energy ramp for the last-song rush. Nothing over-the-top, just responsive and thoughtful.

Photography wins at the Greek Club come from the combination of soft ambient and strategic accent lighting. Ceremony details read beautifully in the warm festoon glow. Reception table shots have enough light to capture texture and colour without harsh shadows. If your photographer wants to work with natural window light during golden hour on the terrace, we'll keep outdoor lighting minimal during that window and ramp up after dusk.

The Greek Club rewards subtlety. This is a venue where your lighting should disappear into the experience—guests shouldn't think "wow, the lights are great" unless you've explicitly chosen something theatrical.
