Festivals — Projection

Projection mapping that turns structures into spectacle

Stages, shade structures, silos and site features become moving visual canvases — mapped, content-designed and run live through Resolume and TouchDesigner.

What mapping does

Any surface on site can become the show

Projection mapping wraps video content precisely onto a physical form — the geometry of a stage facade, a stretch-tent ceiling, a water tower, a stand of trees — so the structure itself appears to move, breathe and transform. At a festival that means the site becomes part of the performance rather than a backdrop to it. We survey the surface, build an accurate map, and design content that works with the shape instead of fighting it. It's the difference between pointing a projector at a wall and making the wall dance. Our mapping work sits alongside the immersive builds on our creative installations page, and pairs naturally with a full festival lighting design.

Content & control

Resolume and TouchDesigner, driven live

The software layer is where mapping lives or dies. We build and run shows in Resolume for clip-driven sets and TouchDesigner for generative, audio-reactive content that responds to the music in real time — so visuals over a DJ set actually move with the mix rather than looping obliviously. Content can be fully custom, adapted from your festival's brand and artwork, or built generatively from scratch. Everything integrates with the lighting rig over DMX so mapped surfaces, moving heads and washes behave as one show rather than three separate systems. If a stage carries lasers as well, we sync those too — see festival laser hire.

Outdoor reality

Engineered for outdoor sites, not just theory

Outdoor projection has hard physics: ambient light, throw distances, surface gain and weather all decide whether a map looks incredible or washed out. We handle that engineering — projector brightness specced to the surface and sightlines, weather housings for exposed positions, secure rigging or scaffold towers where the throw demands height, and power planned into your site distribution. All gear is tested and tagged, and we run the system for the duration of the event rather than dropping it off and hoping. Based between the Gold Coast and Northern Rivers, we're close to most festival sites in South East Queensland and Northern NSW. Send your structure photos and site map via the contact page for a feasibility answer and quote within 24 hours.

Frequently asked

Almost anything with a surveyable surface — stage facades, stretch tents, shipping containers, buildings, silos, trees and custom builds. Send photos and we'll confirm feasibility quickly.

Yes — custom clip-based content in Resolume or generative, audio-reactive work in TouchDesigner. We can also adapt your festival's existing artwork and brand assets.

Mapping needs low ambient light to punch. We design around civil twilight for your dates and spec projector brightness accordingly — we'll tell you honestly when it will start looking its best.

Yes — TouchDesigner content can be driven by live audio analysis, and Resolume sets can be VJ'd live or clocked to timecode from your stage.

Projectors live in weather housings or covered positions, and all rigging and power is rated for outdoor use. We plan wet-weather positions during the site visit, not on the night.
