Can you operate our venue's existing lighting rig?

Yes. Send us the venue's patch list or tech specs and we'll program and operate their rig. If the house gear has gaps, we can supplement with our own fixtures.

Do you program the show in advance?

Always. We build scenes and cues against your run sheet before the day, then adjust live. You'll never watch an operator building looks from scratch while your guests wait.

What's the difference between programmed cues and busking?

Programmed cues fire at planned moments — speeches, entrances, award reveals. Busking is live improvised operation for bands and DJs, where the operator rides the music in real time. Most events use a mix of both.

Do you bring backup equipment?

Console show files are backed up before doors and critical hardware has spares on the truck for larger shows. A decade of live events has made us thoroughly paranoid in the right ways.

Why an operator

Static lighting is a missed opportunity

A rig on a single static look wastes most of what the fixtures can do. A DMX operator changes that: house lights easing down as speeches start, a warm wash snapping to saturated colour when the band kicks in, strobes held back until the drop actually arrives. We program your show in advance — scenes, chases and timed cues built against your run sheet — then operate live so the lighting responds to what's actually happening in the room, not what the schedule guessed three weeks ago. It's the difference between a venue that's lit and a night that's staged. For bigger productions we run DMX alongside Resolume visuals so lighting and video move as one system.

Our operators have run everything from intimate wedding receptions to festival stages — the portfolio includes Splendour in the Grass and Beach Club Byron Bay, so there isn't much a run sheet can throw at us that we haven't already called. We work on professional consoles with a full universe patched, cloned and backed up before doors. Weddings get a gentle hand: lighting that shifts with the evening without ever drawing attention to itself. Corporate events get precision — brand colours, award-moment stings and lectern washes that photograph well. Festivals and gigs get busking: an operator reading the artist and the crowd in real time. Operator, rig, or the whole package

DMX operation starts from $895 for a standard event call, which covers pre-programming, the operator and the console. You can book an operator to drive an existing venue rig, or bundle operation with our own fixtures, design and install for a single point of responsibility — most clients find the bundle cheaper than coordinating separate suppliers. We cover the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Byron Bay and the Northern Rivers, and for festival work we scale up through our technical production service.
